What our tools do
The calculators estimate Medicare Part B and Part D income-related monthly adjustment amounts from the figures you enter and the official tables we cite. They are estimates. The Social Security Administration determines your actual IRMAA using tax information it receives from the IRS, and its decision can differ from our estimate, for example if your return contains items you did not include or if Social Security uses a different tax year.
Projected figures
Figures for future premium years are projections until Medicare publishes official amounts. They are labeled "Projected" wherever they appear, and our method is explained on the methodology page. Do not rely on projections as final numbers.
The appeal checklist
The SSA-44 checklist helps you understand whether your situation may fit one of the life-changing events on Form SSA-44 and which documents Social Security usually asks for. IRMAA Cliff does not fill in, file or submit any government form on your behalf, and it cannot predict or guarantee the outcome of a request. Social Security makes that decision.
